Event & Exhibition Statistics

In Australia, research undertaken by the exhibition and event industry to measure activity and expenditure has shown that exhibitors and visitors contribute more than A$3 billion to the economy and that the industry provides 16,000 jobs.

In response to the growing - and proven - value of the exhibition industry, new venues are being opened in Australia and extensions to existing venues are being planned by state governments.

The NZ Chapter of the EEAA recognises the importance of data-gathering in order to grow our own industry. For example, a recent EEAA benchmark study reported that 79% of all shows offer some form of seminar/education and entertainment and that these elements play a key role in a show's success. Statistics like this support the quality development of our shows.

Research is needed in this country into the current size and scope of the exhibition industry, as well as data on consumers' perceptions of exhibitions and on the amount they spend.

Capturing exhibition and event data in New Zealand is a major objective of EEAA NZ Chapter.
