OSH Compliance
As one of its first undertakings, the NZ Chapter of the EEAA funded a small team to develop the chapter's Minimum Standards for Best Practice in Health and Safety specifically for the NZ sector.
Based on current operational best practice, input for the Standards came from organisers, venues, suppliers, contractors and an OSH consultant. This invaluable OSH-compliant document is available on-line at no extra charge to members of the NZ Chapter of the EEAA.
Benefits of the OSH document
These are the most comprehensive and relevant health and safety guidelines in NZ for the exhibition industry.
It is important for contractors, suppliers, visitors and users to know that they can expect similar approaches to Occupational Safety and Health matters at exhibitions and events throughout the country.
By following these guidelines:
- You will potentially reduce accidents in the workplace and ACC fees that apply to the sector.
- Your employees/contractors and visitors will be safer in the workplace and potentially reduce the sick days caused through accident or injury, and disruption to your work schedules.
- You will potentially reduce your culpability in the event of a serious harm injury. The courts are likely to be more kindly disposed to those that follow industry best practice than those that ignore best practice.
- Following practical, workable guidelines that are being adopted widely for use by the industry can reduce further development of compliance type regulations and government legislation.
The full OSH compliance document is available to members in the members area.
